If you get a link from a site on Google, the next time Google spiders that site, it will follow the link to your site and add it to their index. How long that takes depends on how often Google’s spiders visit that site. The general rule is that the more popular the site is ( the higher the page rank of the site) the more frequently Google will spider it.

That is very easy to find on their site and you should become familiar with those. None of these efforts will succeed if you don’t fall within those guidelines.
